I had a very brief time of service back in 1995 and it was not an dishonerable discharge. I have left this out of my apps to companies.

Will they or can they even find anything on my background check.

I can't find any paperwork about my time in the service and it should have no negative effect on my driving career.

    Thanks.

Usually, a background check is approx. 10 years.

I would list anything that is asked on an application to the best of your ability to ensure no future problems.

    Best to You!!!!!

All the ones I've seen have asked specifically of military service with no regard to how far back it was.

Why would you NOT put your military service down? So you came out with a general discharge no problem as it's NOT a DHD! They don't usually ask what kind of discharge but you never want to hide any information when asked on a job application. If a later check were to show something you neglected to put could cost you dearly with a falsifying a job application on your DAC/HireRight and that is a hard one to remove! And yes a thorough background check will show more than you would believe!

Yes, always answer the questions truthfuly.. Like roll over said.. falsifying a job application is just like lying.. Plus a lot of companies are requiring background checks and more.. You might have to get a HazMat endorsement, TWIC card, passport,or even a security clearance for some military freight someday in the future..

As a boss would you hire yourself if you found out someone was lying on an application? What's the big deal? Did you get a "General under honorable" or a "General under other than honorable", or worse.. a BCD (Bad conduct discharge aka: big chicken dinner). Be a man and own up to your mistakes as well as accomplishments..
