I know watching streaming videos like youtube and online music eat a lot of data. But what if I just use tethering to surf the web? Anyone have experience with this?
With heavy surfing (4-6 hours per day)...I used about 3GB per month...mostly on forums (this one and a few others I used to hang around on)
Whenever possible switch over to wifi on your phone if you are in a wifi area. This is the only thing that will save you data. Otherwise get an unlimited plan. Using the mobile hotspot on your phone will not save you data and is expensive. (well at least on my plan) I don't have unlimited and go over my data every single month! I listen to audio books and podcasts and it kills me!
Get a straight talk phone from walmart and get the $45 unlimited plan. Then buy the PDA net+ app. It will make your phone broadcast WiFi for your laptop. You will NEVER see any charges for data usage from Straight Talk.
I have AT & T with 10g and can go over if you have to download any files. I do not usually watch youtube, or videos. It costs $15. per 1gb if you go over, bill for last month was way over.
