Hey, I have a short period of time that I worked for a small outfit that does not report to DAC, I have been looking for work for sometime now and am wondering if this is why I have not found anything yet? I got my DAC and called them and they said "They don't subscribe to that..." I thought that they have to do this. Now I was terminated from a company and that is also on my DAC tell me please do you think this may be why I am not getting any positive positions where I want to work? It states on my DAC it was a company violation that I was terminated, There are also my Drug/Alcohol test results on there and none of them are positive, I don't have any refusals to subit to a UA or a blood test, There are no preventables on there. Last of all, please don't "Flame" me on here I'm just trying to find a job now and am asking advise, I know I screwed up and am willing to make it right. Thank You.
When ever we fill out a job application, ANY job application, not just a truckers, we are often asked, "have you ever been fired, or asked to resign from ANY employer, if so, state why" so, if by ANY chance what so ever, you are NOT answering that question, or NOT explaining yourself, THIS WILL BE a good reason for your application NOT to be looked at any further, once the potential new employer pulls a DAC on you. SO you will need to fully explain all the details on the application. Now also comes the time frame from one job to another. If you are "job hopping", then your chances for a job are slim. The new employer will be saying, "why should I hire you, when you will not stay too long"??? Also, the economy still stinks. there may just be MORE qualified drivers out there. So just keep applying. In the meantime, if you haven't driven for a while, you may very well NEED to go and take a refresher course, as many companies see that you have lost some of what you once knew. ' IT IS a common thing these days, for companies to DEMAND that a person that hasn't driven for a while, go back to school. And finally, not all companies, large or small, are members of DAC.
Hey starsonwindow I'm sorry to see that it's been an uphill battle for you in your search for a new job. As Gizmo Man mentioned it can be due to your DAC that you are overlooked for a position and also your lack of recent verifiable experience. I'm willing to bet it has very little to do with your DAC and more to do with the recent experience. To be honest, most companies don't subscribe to the DAC kool-aid and I see more and more companies getting away from it. Reason why is that the DAC isn't government regulated in any way and a company that subscribes to DAC can pretty much put anything they want about a driver on their report. I've seen drivers give two weeks notice and at the end of the notice return their trucks to a terminal only to find down the road that the company put on their DAC that they abandoned the vehicle. What a bunch of poo. DAC truly is a joke. You can always dispute anything on your DAC and there are companies out there that you can hire for a nominal fee who will represent you and assist in having your DAC cleaned up. There is a lot of change taking place right now in this industry with all the new regulations and the ones coming down the pike. Keep applying and keep searching and someone will give you a chance. You may need to stay with a smaller outfit for a year or so to get that recent experience and some consistency on a single job. Try not to job hop for a while as this is becoming more and more frowned upon in this industry. Keep your head up, represent yourself well and be honest on your applications. I'm sure you will be able to find something. Good luck!
Its not your dac. Ive been with 4 different companies and ran my DAC 3 months ago just to see what was on it if anything. One reported my time with them to DAC, one just inquired but never reported anything to it and the other 2 didnt look or report anything.
In "some cases", IT CAN AND WILL BE A DAC, especially if one is fired or asked to resign a job. The employer (if they subscribe to DAC), WILL REPORT to DAC that a person was an employee and then will respond to the question, "rehire able". If NO is listed as a response, the potential new employer can and WILL deny the new recruit a job, as the NO answer will almost ALWAYS lead to a firing or resignation. So, when asked the question on ANY JOB application, NOT JUST a driver's application, if "have you ever been fired or asked to resign", just answer truthfully and FULLY EXPLAIN. Many companies DO NOT even care if one was fired, they just want to know.
