Background info: I have a CDL Class A permit and no Driving Experience. I applied for a job and failed my pre-employment drug test. I completed the SAP Return to Duty program and I'm eligible for employment.

Every employer I've been upfront about this has withdrawn their offer so I stopped being upfront about it. I have been accepted for job at an oilfield company and I start Monday, one week from today.

    Questions:

Is it my responsibility to tell them I am on probation? (This would require my SAP to send them a letter in the mail detailing how long my probation is and how many drug tests I would be required to take)

What do you think they will do when they find out?

What companies are more lenient and be willing to work with me?

    Thank you!

No restrictions that I'm aware of. I'm not supposed to know how long my probation is or how many drug tests I'm supposed to have during that time. I do know that the minimum is 6 drug tests within the first year of employment and I'm pretty sure I got the minimum

Also, they ran a background check on me and want to hire me

They will find it in a background check. Did they ask on the app? If so, yes you need to be honest as they can and will fire you at orientation. They will not even need to get you home, just kick you to the curb.
The problem you are running into is that with a SAP and 0 experience you are on the very bottom of the pile. I would suggest looking for another job and forget truck driving for at least 10 years.
If you are free of drugs then you might have a chance to work for some company that doesn't treat you like crap.

Thanks for the reply! This particular company did not ask me on their application or at any point. Also, I talked to my SAP and my SAP said it's on them to ask me and/or find out in the background check.

FYI waiting 10 years will do nothing. The DISA probation list is for life or until I complete the probation schedule

My first company had ALMOST every employee from the drivers through the mechanics, a dispatcher and the manager as felons, not I though.

Second company I worked for had several recent felons.

It's booming now like you wouldn't believe in several of the oil fields around the country, so I would say apply everywhere you're interested, cross your fingers and go for it.

As someone pointed out though. Don't fly to any orientation...lest you be kicked to the curb without transportation back.

If they don't ask, don't tell.

    Trump2020 Thanks this.
