So I got the mobile broadband (how aptly mis-named) from verizon. after using it a couple weeks on the road I brought the laptop home only to find out that I cannot use the ethernet anymore!! I get an error message saying I have conflicting IP addresses on the network. I can use my wifi connection at home, I certainly have no need to burn up data usage on updates at home. I did the whole release/renew IP address deal, but that didn't help. Any advice?

make sure you have the mi-fi connection/adapter turned off. My friend had the same problem, but I dont have the mifi and I cant think of the exact terminology the netbook uses.

    hope that helps

At the time I didn't have the adapter with me and VZAccess Manager was not running. The VZ dial-up connection was still listed in my available networks connection screen...

Oh you have THAT, hopefully you are within your first 30 days and cancel it quickly.

Go to june fabrics they make a 3rd party software app that uses the data connection (like texting) into a web 3g web connection and you can tether your phone just like you do now but june fabrics is just a one time charge of 30 buck versus 30 bucks a month for the tethering your phone with VZW.

Meaning you pay for the data plan of 30 bucks instead of data plus web for 60 bucks.

    Yeah, there software sucks.
