I finally get call from new employer (local LTL) that he's been cleared to bring me aboard, I will however need to sign a paper stating that I understand it's contingent on them verifying my employment......I better add that he told me he's never seen one come back bad (employment verification) My question is has anyone else's had this issue before? As a lot of you may know, western was my last employer, and I stayed there about 8 months shy of the 9 months that they require for them to "verify" your employment. as soon as I got this news, I immediately emailed my direct deposit statements from western to the hiring manager and he said he would forward to HR..... Is there anything else I can do? Need to do? Should do? (I did keep a copy of the BL's that we had to send in to get paid ).... Or am I concerned for nothing? thanks in advance
They should verify your employment regardless of how long. If they refuse, show the new guys your w2 or pay stubs. Many companies have you sign "pending employment verification". They dont want to go through the whole process if your not serious, but they also dont want to hire you untill they are sure your facts check out.
Can't employment also be confirmed by them checking Social Security Information? I had one employer say that I hadn't listed a job that was on my Social Security records..
They are required by law to verify your employment and drug test history if you were a commercial driver. 9 months or not. They can however be jerks and take 30 days to do it.
Here if you want to read it all. They have 30 days from employment to complete the investigation. No replies should be documented and show good faith and how many attempts had been made. They know you worked there. If they don't reply they'll just file a record of attempts and how attempted. Companies go out of business all the time. You can't force the unwilling.
no one can verify my employment. i don't recall every signing one of them forms mentioned above. companies are lazy or out of business. my first OTR company of 18 months. no longer has operating authority. owners let the company go. (basically speaking). all their trucks and trailers are sitting around. drivers have a tendency to bounce through jobs. employers don't want to be bothered with them forms every time a previous employee looks for work.
I have a place that continually says I only worked there for a month. I have pay stubs that show 11 months of employment I will keep them around until I no longer need to show that place on an application.
