my wife and I plan on going over the road in two years when my children get out of high school. I had the great idea to retire and to go over the road. So here I am over the road and missing my family.
    Does it get easier?
    Am I the only one?
How long to I have to be out here before I get better home time?
I’ve tried the local jobs at Pepsi but it’s too much back breaking work, I’m in good shape but it won’t benefit me for our future

    Thanks

Have you tried a LTL company? Old Dominion, YRC, etc?

So the wife is at home and the kids have not yet escaped. And you are trucking.

    Do I have that right?

Yes. The wife can take care of herself. She has a business and the kids and wife are fine. I miss them. I guess I’m just wondering am I the only person leaving a wife and kids home?

You're not alone. I'm not OTR at the moment but I talked to a guy named William when I worked at a grocery DC who had an old flattop K100 whos been trucking since the 80s. Told me to this day its still difficult for him to leave his wife and kids at home. He was actually from Florida too. You're not alone brother

No sir, you are not alone and it can be tough. Some will chime in that they love being alone all the time and that's okay for them. For most folks, families are missed. All I can suggest is to get a little experience, then look into a job that works better for you. In the mean time I recommend getting in as much "face-time" as you can using your favorite social media platform. Good Luck to you driver.
