So I got my Cdl today and I am unbelievably excited, it only took me 8 years to be able to seriously get it and drive fully legal lol, now to find a job no cr England , which is where I signed a contract so that they'd pay for my school . Any suggestions, although I don't have much documented experience I do know the ropes been around this business my whole life

My Friend being around the business doesn't test you like being behind the wheel, remember that when you get in that big truck and think you know it all, You will quickly learn that your knowledge up to this point has been what it looks like outside the fish bowl, Now that your are inside the bowl the process is different.

    Thank You.

Oh I most certainly don't think I know it all, far from it, not being ####y by the statement I made, like I said I know how to drive and I know there's much more to it than that and plenty that I haven't experienced, I'm just excited to finally be able to be free and do it the right way, thank you for your reply though

So, if i were to go to one of these trucking schools (thinking central ref.) And obtain the cdl a permit through the school, but were to quit (before i got the license) because the training was insufficient would i have a dac..in this instance. Ive just heard terror stories about some of these companies and wouldnt want them to tarnish my dac before i was even licensed.

I'm not sure, my case is the guy at the school told us we could pick between cr boyd and USA truck I signed with cr because they were closer to home( they all pay for the schooling) but I read up on them and changed my mind and came across other oppurtunities I will be reimbursed for the school or pay them either way

Schools don't report to DAC and companies can't report anything to DAC till you've drove for them. So you wouldn't have a DAC record till you've been paid to drive for a company.
Also a lot of small companies don't report to DAC either. Usually only your mid size to large carriers report to DAC.
And now theres a new report on drivers called CSA which kinda is written by the DOT.

    Confused yet.

What type trucking are you interested in?
Have you graduated from a CDL school or are you looking for a company that has their own CDL training program?

Old Dominion has hired a few new CDL grads recently.

Why did it take you 8 years to get you CDL? :dontknow:

That's interesting as I applied there and nothing. Not even a "thank you but we went with somebody else" phone call. Mind you I have several years experience and an almost spotless MVR and PSP. Oh well their loss.
