it is me again asking your advice ..and giving you an update :
got my CDL,have my tanker ,doubles and triples .waiting on my twic and i am going to do my hazmat tomorrow.
question is : applied at all the companies i was advised to ;however Trimac ,tidewater ,superior carriers all want experience . i didnt wanna go with Ctl cuz i heard some horror stories here in florida .schneider bulk wanted to give me a shot.talked to svtn after i filled out an app and they said they require to relocate to texas to run out of one of their terminals.
i was trying also to broaden my horizons and apply at sysco ,MBM ,Ups..but they rejected me cuz of lack experience.applied at Averitt (app still under review)stevens transport called me ..but i wanna see if i can get in their tanker or oilfield division .
    any more suggestions ?
    thank you All.

What industry hasn't the government become too involved in, Off shored or flooded the market with foreigners ?

OP, come to Texas. Houston is a tanker Mecca. Plenty of jobs.

Congrats on the New CDL, I just got my CDL last Friday! I am going with Schneider Tankers out of Houston, been told its one of the best training schools for tankers, money isn't bad either for a Newbie, although I will be living with my cousin, I now the rents there are still low, and there is NO state taxes out of your checks! It is a good place to start and get that important experience IMHO! Good Luck to you where ever you go!

i think i am gonna go with them too since i heard good things about their training.will be dispatched out of Nashville,TN .best of luck to you ..reason i chose Nashville is cuz i will move to Bowling green,Ky and that is like an hour drive .one thing that i just noticed is that KY has a state income tax but TN doesn`t .am a bit confused .if i live in ky and work from a terminal in TN do i still need to pay an income tax rate?

If your residence is KY, you will pay KY personal income taxes, doesn't matter where your terminal is.

There's some cheap houses in Portland, TN right on the KY line off I-65. A couple blocks from First Fleet terminal is a small sub-division with cheap houses.
