I tarp a Super B daily.... Mostly lumber! Takes me 2 hours... Even with rubber rope all set up at right locations. Any tips to shorten my time? Make it easier... My tarping job looks great when I'm done... But I don't much care about how it looks... Just don't wanna lose my tarps.... And my haul is usually only about 6 to 8 hours ( I have a bad back too). Just looking ways to make job easier.... The easier the better! No! Curtain trailers not a option.... Just trying to stick to a job without moving again... I hate moving around... Always a flaw in every job
Cut your tarps to the exact length you need, I did this for aluminum sows since we haul so many. Make sure when you roll your tarp you have it rolled where all you have to do is flop out the sides and bungee her down.
Always try to get the guy loading your trailer to place the tarps up top for you. Another option would be to order some light weight tarps yeah they are a bit expensive but they are a real back saver. Also doing as kenworth said will save a little bit of headache but put some plastic edge protectors up on top just as a little extra insurance.
Not sure that straps over the tarp is a good idea. All that lumber cuts your tarps especially where you are putting your edge protectors.
Yeah, you have to use some common sense about what you're tarping, but I haven't had much problem with that and we haul just about everything. The sharp edges of steel are usually what you have to be the most concerned about. I've never had trouble with lumber, but then we might have better quality tarps than some.
Almost 25 years ago I tarped a printing press. Had about 4" of ink on it. The wind blew the ink everywhere. About 3 months to be "Ink" free.
