According to my driving partner, Garmin ELD sometimes does not consider it a violation of HoS if you drive 16 consecutive hours without rest, if you have only configured the "24 hour start period" time to be somewhere in between. For example, our configured time point is 0:00 (midnight) and at one point someone drove 8 hours just before midnight and 8 hours after midnight, but Garmin did not count this as a violation. But it is, right? Is this true? BTW, is there a way to print out the reports without being in the truck (i.e. having the ELD nearby)?
Wow, it is echoing empty here. Maybe Garmin owners already knew this and used it for their advantage? Yet they did not want to help me with information on how to correct incorrect logs caused by Garmin not allowing to change the active driver even a second after the vehicle has started moving. A couple of days ago I asked Garmin support this same question and the geezer pretended I asked something else. Then when I asked to talk to a supervisor they told me they would need to get back to me the next day, but of course they didnt. Garmin need to refund all buyers of ELDs and accompanying truck GPS navigators used as the crappy user interface! They used to have the best GPS technology back in 2001 but I suppose things have changed since then...
