Don't get one unless you need to. Most people dont, unless you like shelling out another 100 bucks for nothing.
They aren't offered in every state, you need to find out where you can get one and you have to apply in persom and pick it up in person. Most of the guys from my company that have gotten it have done it in New Jersey, my company is in Iowa. We can go to Chicago, Duluth, MN or Kansas City if we want to go as close, the only place we go to regularly is Chicago, and that place or places aren't real handy for us. They do a background check. there are places where they demand that you have it, but mostly you either have to pay for an escort, or wear identity and pay extra if you are non Twic compliant. If you are always going to go to ports, it is worth having, and it makes you more hireable, unfortuneatelly it is not worth extra pay for the most part, like Haz Mat usually doesn't get you more pay, either, but it might get you hired over someone without it. If I never see another produce importer, it will be too soon.
