i recently got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and worried about going to orientation and getting send back home im taking prescribed medication which is lisinopril and metformin anybody with a similar experience?
Metformin is legal to use while driving. You'll only get a 12 month DOT medical card though. If you keep it to yourself, you'll get a 2 yr. DOT medical card.
Yep. Type 2 diabetic myself. Start eating really healthy now. Check your blood sugars as much as needed. Keep it about 150 and you will be fine. Each company is different, but most what you under 200. They won't do a finger stick test unless they find sugar in your urine. Diabetes can he tricky for a dot physical. I usually eat something that is no carbs before the test, like string cheese and carrots the morning of. Just so I am not hungry while waiting. Avoid soda that is not diet. No sugar in coffee, use Splenda or the pink packets.
I wouldnt keep it a secret. If they find sugar in his urine and then he pops elevated numbers they are going to make him go see a doctor. I just had my dot physical and they now store everything in the computer for the DOT to see. Has been like that since October.
