i need some help findin a company that will hire me, i have 3 months of verifiable experience but i have been driving for 4 years (illegally with a buddy) i recently worked for central refrigerated and was getting 2800 avg miles a week teaming with a buddy of mine, we talked to our dispatch and we couldn't get any more miles so we ended up making what i am thinking is the biggest mistake of my career which was abandoning the truck, but the company wouldn't route us to a terminal to turn the truck in, and we were told if we drove out of route to the terminal they would report the truck stolen, all i know is driving and all i love is driving, i can't seem to find a company that will hire me, does anyone know of a company that would let me drive for them?

If you abandoned the truck under a load, you won't find a job anytime soon. If it was empty, you may find something, but, you'll have to look #### hard.

Wow! Yeah, big ouch! Not only that but prepared for Central sending you a bill somewhere in the neighborhood of $5000. This is what they will back charge you for truck recovery. I know so many people that have gotten this tab! If you don't pay it they will stick it on your credit. Well you may want to think about another career because there are not very many companies that will hire with truck abandonment on your DAC. The only way to fix this is to see if Central will rehire you then wait a few months and quit the right way. That really was quite a bridge burning. The only way other way I see you getting out of this is if your friend was assigned first seat. Then they may just put the truck abandonment on his DAC. Anyway good luck with that.

Skip any of the big companies. They won't touch you and it would be a waste of your time and resources.

Check with smaller local companies, loggers and chippers. Put your work clothes on and go knocking on doors with your CDL, medical card and resume in hand. The smaller mom n pop outfits might overlook the abandonment and accept that four years and be willing to work with you. Try nott to embellish it too much. Just be honest and matter-of-fact about it. Painting it as "the boss screwed me" might not be the best approach. Lots of times this stuff is looked at situationally. For instance, if there was a medical emergency, funeral for a close family member or some other such emergency, it may be looked at as justified. If it was simply "got tired of being on the road and wanted to go home" well, not so much.

    Good luck.

If you owned a truck, would you trust it to somebody with your history?
