Hi, I bought a 1999 Pete after my '93 Freightliner caught fire in my driveway. It Has a 3406e 2WS 475 Cat engine and I've been having some difficulties with it.
I in-framed the engine (not by choice) after I bought it but have not been getting the boost pressure I should be getting. The waste-gate actuator was no good and I have the waste-gate rigged shut until my new one comes in. This has helped my boost pressure some, but I've noticed if I floor it I maybe only get 18lbs right away and it will climb to 20 but only with increased rpm I've gotten it as far as 27 before but it's very rare to go that high. I know it should be pushing at least 30. Any suggestions?

The other problem I'm having is with the message center in the dash. It works when reading faults, but it will not read the sensors, MPG or oil pressure etc. It would work occasionally if all the lights were off and the engine brake was running. Any thoughts on how to diag this problem?

As a back ground I have worked on trucks and heavy equipment my whole life and in-framed the truck myself. However this is my first electronic engine, so I'm kinda at a loss for some things but am a quick learner. My previous trucks have all been mechanical CATS. But Some of this electrical stuff has got me stumped.

I would check all your intake ducting for leaks. Rev it up bout 1000 rpm and spary soapy water on all the air to air connections a hoses , any joint ( hose or gasket) . Any bubbles fix . The sensors if not used to Pete's dash , not muck I can help you with there.
