Can anyone tell me the mph ranges for each gear with 9 speed? Relative is starting a new job and just found out that what he'll be driving. He just spent an hour searching the web and couldn't find it. He hasn't driven a 9 speed before, only a 10 speed. TYVM.
Not sure if the speeds per se but the 9 works just like the 10 except for 6 is where the 7 used to be. (1 does not double as another gear when in high range) As long as he breaks his habit of going to high than coming full left and down, and replaces that with left then up, he'll do fine. He should be shifting with "feel" (sound) and rpm instead of with speed The 9 is really an 8, but has a low granny gear, too
IMO don't even get in the habit of thinking about road speeds. A truck with a 3.55's is gonna shift at different speeds than one with 4.33's. Keep it in a gear where you aren't lugging it or pushing it over like 1700-1800 or so and its all good.
In low-range shift up about 200 rpm from top of green range, 1300 IIRC. Once in high-range I recall shifting up at 1600 which worked out to about every 10 mph..
True, unless the 8 speed is a horseshoe pattern then the 3rd (7th) and the 4th(8th) gears are swapped.
I just spoke with him just now, he was very thankful for everyone's input. He is worried about downshifting with a 9 speed because you need to be at a right mph to downshift into a gear.
