Sorry for the double post. Realized after the fact I got the company name wrong. I've been asking a lot of questions lately, and i really appreciate the straightforward answers from all you guys. I'm at the point of trying to dredge through the mountains of companies and pick a few to try for when I'm done with school. I've been looking really hard at TMC, but I'll be honest, I'm not a big guy and something about hauling around a 120 lbs tarp doesn't seem too appealing. So I've decided to try to fond something based closer to home, which led me to NTB inc. I haven't really found too much on them, I'm wondering what, if anything, you guys know of NTB, or any further insight to TMC.
Look around the Meijer store docks might find a driver hanging out there. They do Meijer and Target from what I was told. I just briefly talked with a driver. Stated some days he's out couple of days but mostly home at night, freight changes and so goes your schedule. He likes NTB and had been with them for awhile. Not a ton of info for you but some to get you started.
I'm a TMC trainer. The tarps arnt as bad as they sound. I only weigh 140 and I can lift them. First off, once you get out of training you rarely lift the heavy lumber tarps. Most of the time you get the fork lift driver to do it for you. If you can get through the lift they have you do in training you will be fine. Secondly, lifting the lighter steel tarps will give you arm muscles surprisingly fast with no additional going to the gym. That makes lifting the heavy lumber tarps easier. I'd really suggest not letting tarp weight affect your decision. If you have nay questions about TMC, please feel free to PM me. (and no, i dont get a bonus if you join, I truly believe TMC is a great company to start with.)
Yea, I've done more research, talked with some people over there at TMC. apparently whoever said the tarps are 120 lbs was wrong? IDK. I'm still leaning that way, just need to get through the first 2 weeks of school before they can start to process my app. Btw. you still weigh more than me. lol.
NTB stays busy. Assigned trucks but if you have an extended home time it may be given to another driver for a while. They seem to keep up with the equipment. Most of the work appears to be out and back so time out on the road isnt for weeks at a time. Not sure about east coast but dont remember seeing them going that way when i was. Alot of work for Meijer and Target.
Hate to bring an ancient post back to life but I am about to be going to school for my cdl and NTB seems to be the most attractive option with hometime not to mention I live where they have a terminal. Did you end up going with them?
I drive for them and love it!! Good company good home time good pay always helpful people that can answer questions and can always get ahold of dispatch day night weekend it doesn't matter
