Ok first off dont flame. I know there are some Prime haters, and the only reason why I am going with Prime is cause they were the 1st to hire me... I have a felony 9 years ago, and all the others wanted me to wait 10 years, well due to being broke all the time, making less than min wage, Prime goes back 7 and I start there May 1st...

Second Im a little worried about the Physical... I have high blood pressure, mostly around 140/80... give or take a few... I control it with diet and exersize only, and no med's.. cant afford them...

Second..> Diabeties... Controled with diet and exersize... cant afford a dr, or meds... for the most part, if i eat around 30 or so carbs, and eat mostly vegies, and meat im good... sugar is under control... a1c is around 7...

Guess what im asking is what should I expect, and if my BP is a little high at the moment, can they over look a point or two on that BP... Ive never had a problem driving, passing out, or fealing like I was going to... As long as I eat right, I feal right... My blood sugar has only been a problem when first diagnosed 4 years ago, but after I learned what I can and cant eat, as long as I stick to the diet Im high energy...

Also what else can I expect from being a company driver.. Pay, etc... as whats the avarage check after the training and im on the road on my own as a company driver working for pocket change per mile...

I just dont wana get there and get sent home ya know...

Just as long as you test 140/90 you can pass the BP check. Take you an aspirin about an hour prior, no caffeine and don't smoke for about an hour.

A1C of 7.0 and greater is considered uncontrolled diabetes. If you haven't had a medical is 7 years, I normally don't say this, but I wouldn't mention it. Why I say that? Because you need health insurance and need to start seeing a doctor. I'm an unemployed diabetic and know what you are going through. Type II diabetes is not a disqualification. Uncontrolled diabetes is.

They check your sugar through a urine sample. Just don't eat that morning and no sweets and it should check low.

It's a gamble as far as the testing goes, but if everything is the way you say it is, you can do the above tricks and pass the medical.

Start seeing a doctor no matter what. There's free health clinics and $4 prescriptions at almost all major pharmacies. Being poor is no excuse. Paying cash, RiteAid is the best.

Once you get the ball rolling and get treated, then advise the safety dept that you were recently diagnosed with diabetes.

Search the Prime forum for the pay information. They also list driver pay on their website. What I recall from recent posts, you are paid 0.32/mi when you upgrade to 'A' seat and the odds are good that you'll be assigned a 'lightweight' truck, which will add 0.05/mi for a total of 0.37/mi. Then there's fuel bonus, load / unload pay, detention pay, etc. Plan for around 2200 miles per week, but you may end up with more.

Kinda right. But not really. In the Prime forum is a "Prime Pay scale" thread which somewhere down in there ORD put a more current pay scale in there. From upgrade to A seat to 80k miles: 33cpm base.

Yeah, Wal-Mart among others have $10.00 prescriptions (generic) for a 90 day dose. And that's cheap. Go to a walk-in clinic/urgent care, get a check-up, see how BP is, get a prescription if it's high, (sometimes it takes 2-3 prescriptions) to get it under control. Under 140/90 will get you a 2 yr medical card. If you cop to taking BP meds, you'll get a 1 yr card. If BP is somewhat over the 140/90, you'll get a 3 month card. I can't advise on the diabetes question.

Paywise, get out there and see how well you manage money, it's real easy to blow it real quick. My advice ? Get a little black book and note every dime spent so you can see where your money goes. Because you won't remember where you were or what you ate or what you spent 3 days after the fact. Any advances come out of your settlement.

140/80 is a nomal high.I would go to an affordable walk in clinic and get medicine. That's what I did.My visit cost $20.00.Surely you can afford that can't you.I would not chance going to Prime then getting turned away because they feel your BP is too high. That's what happened to me with a trucking company. But I had no idea my BP would be too high otherwise I would have taken care of this before going to orientation. My BP was just a little high. What to avoid hrs before the test is sodium, soda and ciggaretts and if at all possible go in the doctors office with a calm relaxed attitude.Start eating lots of fruits and veggies. The medicine the doctor perscribed to me is Lisinopril. Now I take it regulary to keep my BP under control. There are also breathing exercises you can do for your BP.

Thats the problem im in right now... I make less than min wage, delivering steak, and no one is tipping anything... my hours got cut back to less than part time... I blew the motor on my car, so had to buy another, and cant afford the payments... its about to get repoed if i dont do something now... Cant get more hours, too many drivers, not enough business... Ive been looking for a second job for 6 months now... Almost cant afford rent, nor havent bought food in over 8 months for the house... its fast food off the few tips I do get... My wife is in the same boat... No hours and crappy pay... So going to a clinic is out of the question when I dont have the 20.00 nor the 4.00 for the meds... So I guess its back to my old MMA diet when I was training... No carbs, vegies and water, chicken and fish only... Nohting processed or comes from a can or package... when i did that, my blood sugar was normal, and my BP was under 140/80... So yea, the option to play stupid that I dont know i have diabeties and high bp maby my only option... Got to quit smoking again, stay away from sodas, and salt... I know the drill... Just wanted to know what they would say if it happend to be 144/79 or something...

My bp right now, this second is... 140/91 a few minutes ago... 149/89.... its close to being where it needs to be... what im asking i guess is if that will be ok enough to get a 3 month card, or something till I can get some money and med ins, to get a doctor... I was perscribed lisinopril... but havent taken it sence i ran out a year ago, for the most part, my bp is around this range above.... unless I eat McDonalds, i dont feel bad, never passed out, nor has it been a problem for me to drive... When i eat fat food, or bad food, then I feal bad... or if im really stressed out over something...
