    Hello
I'm a Murfreesboro TN "resident" who has just received a CDL-A license from trucking school however it is Automatic-restriction (for the time being)

I'd like to back trailers as a yard monkey/chupacabra like I used to do in Pittsburgh PA for Amazon. I might try it again at the Amazon on Joe B Jackson in Murfreesboro but it is a far walk from the spot I'm staying

I could go get placed with an actual trucking company through the school but I want work/life balance so a yard yeti makes the most sense. When it comes to actual trucking I'm also nervous driving on the road at the moment but I'm sure that would get ironed out with experience

There's also General Mills for yard dogs but Amazon sounds sexier than cereal/pastries

I don't have a personal vehicle yet, want to work for a little while and save up to buy some cute old compact pickup trucks. That mobility would help me go to working at Nissan later on
This is my first ever post on this website
God bless you for any insight you have that could help me

I went to CDL school in Murfreesboro. The one I attended has since moved to Christiana.
If you're homeless, where do you stay? What address do you use on job applications?
What is the address on your CDL License?

This company has 2 -4 yard dogs on the payroll all the time.
I'm not sure which trucking company has the contract right now. Call and find out.
The warehouse is within walking distance of all kinds of entertainment, gym, movies, sports bars, etc.
There's some cheap motels nearby that rent by the week. Goodlettsville is much safer than Murfreesboro. A bicycle would be very handy to have there.
One benefit here is if you want to drive trucks later, you can and with the same company. Has local, regional, OTR; take your pick.

It doesn't make any difference what's in the trailer you are moving, ceareal plastic spatulas. You should focus on the employer quality, pay & benefits, schedule. Amazon is not going to be a great employer. They expect productivity like you are a robot, not a humane work environment. I'd much prefer shuttling trailers at General Mills or Pillsbury than Amazon, if the pay is even close. Murfreesboro has a Rover bus service. Once you have transportation there are many yard jockey jobs around Nissan. Universal/Central Transport are the crappiest but there is also Averitt Express & Venture Express. The job, whoever you work for requires climbing up & down the tractor steps hundreds of time in a day. My requirement would be only working for company with air conditioned yard trucks.

You can also try the Driver Leasing companies. Those are temp agencies supplying drivers at the companies I've mentioned. IIRC Driver Source or Driver Force and Transforce are the ones Averitt used when I worked for them. You make about $1-2 less per hour than the hired company drivers but you can have more flexibility.
