been driving a prostar for over a year now. well, 3 actually, two 09's and an 08. and occasionally after I shut of the truck and get out the horn starts going off. 99% sure I'm always in neutral before I pop the brakes and step out (yes its an auto) and always at least turn the main lights off. Sometimes it starts right when I get out of the truck and sometimes it waits till I'm halfway across the parking lot. Not a huge issue except it really is annoying, my question is what is causing it? Something I'm unconsciously doing, or even yes, I have thought this, am I doing things to quickly, stop neutral pop brakes out of the truck in a couple seconds.
three different trucks. at least the two '09's did/do it. only had the '08 couple weeks b4 the trans went dont recall if it did that also in that time span.but my point being sounds more like some preprogrammed alarm/warning thing. just curious as to what that alarm/warning is so i can avoid doing it in the future.
pretty sure thats the way I do it..... would setting the brake before neutral effect it, I guess its possible I do do that without realizing it.
Was thinking about this morning when I hit a dock. It can't be the order of operations, because every time I hit a dock, I always keep a little pressure on the dock while in reverse when I pop the brakes. And it surely doesn't 'get mad'(lol) every time I dock. so it's got to be something else.
horn beeps after shutoff. the truck likes you. does not want you to leave. it's scared to be left alone. read it a bedtime story.
LOL, Pretty sure I'd look like a fool soothing my truck reassuring it i'll be right back. However If I dont get a better idea i may try it.
