Hello everyone. I'm new to the industry, researching local trucking companies that are offering paid cdl training. I was hoping someoneon here has been through Carter Express and could give me the run down. I've talked to a recruiter but you now how that is.
Any info is helpful even if it's from another carrier. Thanks!

Last I heard Carter was working through the Sage school in Muncie, IN. I recommend Sage, and the people in Muncie, but realize you will be indebted to Carter if you let them pay for it. It's better to pay for the school yourself, many companies have tuition reimbursement programs if you work for them. An example is Maverick Transportation, they pay you $150 a month while you are working for them. PS, central Indiana is a great place to work for Maverick. Good luck!

What their recruiter emailed me from December: "drivers run regional routes out of the Anderson/Indianapolis area. Our drivers work 5 days per week and are home 1.5 to 2 days per week.
After training is completed, our new drivers start at 32.5 cents per mile (base pay) plus two quarterly bonuses. Our drivers average 2,500 miles per week. New drivers average $42,000 base pay and average $3,900 in bonus pay their first 12 months. We offer a full benefit package after 90 days. "
    Trucks are not take home.

I tried Maverick but because of a drug related charge from 9 years ago they will not accept me into their training program. But once I get a year they will take me. Carter express is too far for me to commute. Not being able to take the truck home really turned me off of them. I start at a cdl school next Monday! I love that I will not be stuck with a company because they trained me. Looking at rg transport right now!

    Where are you located ?
I will be in Kokomo and would not want to drive that everyday to Anderson.
I thought about Maverick but I am 63 and been working outside on airplanes when needed to and sick of cold rainy weather.
I think Flatbed is more work than I want to do lol
I thought I heard they had some reefer trucks ?

What school are you going to , Sage in Muncie is like $5k
Thinking of paying my own school also but if I could get with something that worked for me I might try it.

Yes they have a regional refer and it's home time is weekly. After doing research and talking with recruiters for 4 or 5 months Maverick's refer was what I was going for. But I'm hoping to find a home daily gig in my area after I get some time in with a home weekly regional gig that'll take me right outta school. I live 30 minutes south of Indy going to tdi in whiteland. Its the same cost. Good luck on your search!
