Simply stated, they don't waste their time reading forums that tell them how hard it is, they just go out and work...HARD...that is how you succeed in this business. Being an OO is not difficult at all as long as you are willing to do whatever it takes to do the job. Immigrants are better suited for that because they come from cultures where you work like a dog just to survive, when they come here they work like a dog and get ahead. Most Americans have lost the drive to succeed, immigrants for the most part seize opportunities just like the original immigrants did when they came to this continent. There is good money in trucking, you just have to be a lean, mean, working machine!

The countries they come from don't have welfare, unemployment checks, food stamps, etc.
Work or starve is what they are used to.

$15.00 hr. to clean urinals in McDonalds would be a fortune to them also. About 10 or 15 of them would pool their money and buy a nice house.

The problem is, as a mass of people they cut rates. For them its fine for a little while maybe even a few years, becuase yes they work HARD. But when their engine blows or their trany drops they are out of business. But a new set of drivers just like them come along buy a truck with out thinking and the whole thing starts over again. As a shipper I guess I wouldn't even care either.

Some of them come over here temporarily and drive someone else's equipment. They get paid on a 1099 and pay zero in taxes. They run nonstop and bank $1,500-$2,000 a week like that basically as company drivers. I have on good authority this is what eastern Euros do around Chicago. Some of them come to the states for the holiday boom and work like that get paid all cash, no taxes, go home and live the good life til next year and do it again.
