Be honest here guys, how dangerous is it out there, really? I'm leaving in about a month. I was thinking about joining a karate gym to teach me about self defense, is it worth it? Or should i be worry about other things?

you have greater risk around your house.

But I'd still suggest taking a basic general self-defense class. You can never go wrong with it.

It is the same "out there" as a trucker as it is for anyone else.

I'm a 6' 2" 245 lb male and I carry pepper spray. Had a Swift driver throw a club at me one time. Typical fuel island fight.

It not really that bad if you just use Street smart thinking and keep a set of eyes in the back of your head. Watch your back. Do not flash money around, do not go looking for trouble and most of the time it will not come looking for you.

But I had gotten into my truck and heard drivers talking about me walking across the parking lot and one driver said If you seen his Ball Cap, you would know, He be ok, Nobody in their right mind would mess with him. (I was wearing a Coast Guard Veteran Ball Cap)

The best is when the other driver tells you on the cb to pull over cause he wants to fight you
