    Hello Folks,
I'm new to this forum....was previously a member of the American Welding Society Forum. Now I am an out of work Certified welder and currently enrolled in a really good 2 1/2 Mo. CDL driving school. My situation is that i have a prior felony on my record from 15 yrs ago. I have DO NOT HAVE, DUI's, Drug, Sexual or Domestic Violence convictions....but, the recruiters coming to this school so far have said NO WAY to anyone with a Felony. I have shelled out some serious coin for this training, and i need to Get on with Finding a job.
What Carriers will hire a driver with a long past felony? In short...My Wife Passed away 2 yrs. ago and My only Child is grown. So, I am free to travel. What to do?

You'll need to knock on a lot of doors. Think smaller companies. None of the big guys are going for it right now. Too many applicants.

Not for nothing, but posting personal info such as your phone number on an open public forum such as this one is generally considered to be not a very good idea.

I am in the same boat, none of what is mentioned above applies to me too. I have been out of trucking for the past 4 years, i do have a prior felony that happen in March of this year (2011). I have not shelled out any cash thusfar for a training school. I will admit that i was in the wrong, i have learned from this mistake and want to move on. What i am asking is what companies will hire a recently convicted felon and give me a chance?

I don't think there is a company that doesn't require 1 year and I have only seen one of those. Most require three years since the final disposition. Several require five years and a few ten years.

If it is that recent you are probably still on probation. I expect that is a deal-breaker regardless of the time that has passed. You didn't say what the offense was - that could be a deal-breaker too.

If you've been out four years, you have another problem. No recent experience. The following information applies if you didn't have a recent felony. All the mega-companies will want to send you to school and make thousands before they hire you. A few of the better big companies would hire you if you take a refresher course. Some small fleet owners and small companies will give you a road test and put you on, if their insurance will approve you. Some oilfield driving jobs will take old experience.
