Can anyone please tell me how long I have to be at the Maverick hotel before I get out in a truck? Basically asking how long the training will be... I read somewhere that the reefer people will be moved to another hotel is that correct?

Also, regarding the front gate do they just open it for any car or does the driver have to go up and explain their intentions first before they are allowed in?

Not sure how long the training is for new TCD students (Temperature Control Division). If you have previous OTR experience, you attend the week long orientation and are issued a truck after you accept the job offer. Maverick knows who's expected to arrive for orientation. They usually have you take the bus to orientation because should you accept the job offer, your truck may be at one of Maverick's other terminals, not North Little Rock. Maverick has a hotel on the compound, and uses both the Galloway and the Red Roof Inn as well.

Yes I am a new driver. So after a week do I go out in a truck if I am hired or do I have to stay the the Maverick hotel for many more weeks? I rather have my own hotel where I can come and go as I please without everyone knowing.

I would check with recruiting. My guess is that as soon as you have completed whatever they have you do for tcp division, they will get you lined up with your trainer as soon as possible.

When I went through orientation we had some TCD guys with us. They go through the orientation I think it was 5 days and then broke off into their own group for 3 days of TCD specific training. One thing I can tell you is take Reefer People out of your vocabulary. Reefer People are the ones sent home after the drug test.

After you're hired you'll go with a trainer. If he lives near you and you can get home when he/she does, then you'll go home. If he lives too far away from your house to go home, you will stay in a hotel that allows direct billing, has on site laundry available and eating establishments within walking distance. You wont stay in the hotel on the Maverick property after orientation while with your instructor.
