Friend of mine works for PTL and well he has been at the Freightliner repair facility for 7 days now, with no end in sight as to when he is going to be hitting the road again.

The people at PTL have told him that they have no available trucks in the area (Memphis, TN) so they are just having him stay at a local hotel until they resolve the issue. They are paying him $35 per day to sit and watch TV.

Am I wrong in thinking that this is just way too long for him to be waiting on them?

it took them a week to do a PM and fix my bunk heater and a small number of issues when I was at Schenider

it took them 8 hours before they called me back so they could write-up my broken internal valve on my trailer (while parked AT the Customer)

call me nasty names but i'd be fine with sitting at a hotel for $35 a day to watch TV and play on my computer

$35 a day is a joke. With all the time on his hands and free internet he could look around and find a better company to drive for.

Thats what I have been telling him since he completed his first year. But you know he says that he can live with PTL's wrinkles and that he has asked around about other companies with other drivers and he has not been encouraged by those conversations.

they aren't making any money with YOU broken down, so thats one reason why. how can they pay YOU for doing something if you're physically not doing anything?

if they paid $150/dy for breakdown people would be breaking down intentionaly just to get extra cash

Something sounds fishy. No trucks in the area? WHAT? Sounds like PTL is too cheap to rent a truck, as Penske has farm fields full. I've had nothing but problems with Freightliner, but you could have a glider kit ready in a week. I think there's more to the story here.:biggrin_25513:
