Just curious if anyone here saves any real money or do most just live check to check?

I've saved plenty and trucking has been my entire adult life. None of anyone's business exactly how much, but a healthy savings can be achieved if a person learns to live sensibly.

My 2 cents. (Get it???!) :)

I've known drivers that had a few hundred thousand saved by contributing the maximum amount to the 401K. It takes discipline and not buying a new toy everytime you feel the urge and dipping into the 401K to buy it.

I'm homeless, making more money than I've ever made and have very few expenses. This career is good to me.

Easily achievable. I contribute 20% of my earnings to my 401(and that doesn't count the company match). I don't even miss it and I LOVE opening up that statement every quarter.

I save money in quite a few ways. in trucking one has got to be thrifty. when you here about drivers saying there always broke. normally they spend it in casinos,cb shops, and other places. back when i drove. i use to catch drivers selling off there stuff at sky city casino. they would get paid that day. and blow it in the casino. werner drivers the guys. would hold down the atm at the t/a in amarillo waiting for there check. they would get there money and go blow it on a hooker in the back row of the t/a. alot of little flrrt drivers would spend it on dope. I would always save it and save it. focused on getting to where i am now. anytime i spent a large sum of money when i was a driver. i would wait until i got home. and pick one thing that i wanted. and that would be my treat.

2 kids and a wife that doesn't work make it very hard to save a penny. We try tho...can't wait for tax time :biggrin_25525:

image.jpeg I managed to save over a hundred grand, but this super insulated shed and antique tractor lowered it a lot.
But then I'm an old hermit too ... Who knows, we do need the people that spend more money and repopulate the Earth.

Im not letting bankers, play with my earnings...Years ago I laughed, when company paid all the employees, to attend a 4 hour meeting, on the benefits, of a 401k.
Dont fool yourself..youll never see the money...I save for big toys..live today..leave nothing for death..except debt..the bankers can go pound salt!
