I-55 closed in Illinois due pile up involving more than 50 vehicles

    My company mentioned just now to us 10 life flight helicopters and 37ambulances have been dispatched to the scene.

    I live north of this. I'm at house today, it's crazy windy out & videos I've seen the dust was/is still bad in that area. Looks absolutely horrible. Saying I-55 is closed from exit 52 to exit 80 northbound.

    Ooooo weeeee!!! That's one of those situations in which it just isn't anything you can really do. I feel sorry for each one of those folks. Those dust storms are so scary, it's like something out of a movie

    Was just thinking the same thing. I think of dust storms happening in places like Arizona...I guess the dust bowl was Oklahoma and that region back in the day.

    Either way this just seems too far east.

    It's mostly flat farm land all over Illinois. There's usually a breeze and sometimes stronger winds so not surprising they sometimes have dust storms. It's not for nothing Chicago is called the windy. Saw it in MO a couple of weeks ago on my way to KC. Tractors turning fields and a strong wind blowing big dust clouds across 70 with the sun setting in my eyes.
