Looking at the Caltrans cameras it is snowing pretty good and no clearing operations ongoing. Going to be a long weekend.

The Sierra crest is supposed to get 7-10 FEET of snow over the next few days. Mammoth just got 50 inches of snow since Thursday so 395 is probably a mess. When they say alternate route, do they expect you to drive down to Vegas and across to Bakersfield or vice versa? Snow levels are supposed to drop to 3,000 feet tonight in SoCal BTW. Maybe just come back after New Year's.

 

They don't plow up on Donner when it snows hard they claim it is dangerous. You will find them on both sides of the summit but not on the top. This storm is hitting hard and windy doubt they could keep up anyway

 

A lot of loads won't show up tomorrow in California. Unless they dropped down to I-40 early on to get to Tehachapi, but they expect snow there later today.
Boreal Ski at Donner Summit says the power is out so they are closed. Hope to reopen later today if Caltrans can get I-80 open.

 

Was just watching the evening news.
I-80 will remain closed overnight and be reassessed tomorrow.

 

I-80 still closed. Power is out across the mountain. And 395 south is closed so no detouring south now.

 

You can still head to Fallon and south on 95

 

At least they started plowing still down trees and power lines to deal with
