So there is not much in the news but i passed this today. Been driving for a long time and this is by far the worst i have ever seen. Apparently at least 2 semis and maybe more involved. Most of the rigs are smoldering ruins now. Interstate 80 crash blocks traffic in Bureau County, Illinois | wqad.com Took these when traffic was stopped to let 3 tankers past. Drivers in the other lane were saying the police confirmed at least 2 dead but they think there are more, they cant even figure out how many vehicles were involved yet. Hopefully we will see more about it soon.
I couldnt get a good angle from where i was sitting and didnt want to be waving my phone around infront of dozens of police when we started moving and i COULD get a good angle. but from what i saw when i could see everything clearly they were melted to the ground slag at best. Even the frames were warped and twisted ruins and you could see from westbound how the frames literally meted into pools and a few were still glowing white hot when i passed. Judgeing from how they had TONS of containment floats in the water 100 yards away im guessing at least some hazmat was involved to burn like that.
No this was the one east of davenport where they were working on that bridge over by...langley i think its called? Where you have the exit going to 40. Happened just west of exit 45 there before you got to the bridge. No idea how or why it happened.
