I could use some help please.

I have an automatic freightliner cascadia. It keeps saying creep mode aborted while moving in low gears. And it does it when moving in reverse too and it is causing so real trouble while backing up. Making it extremely difficult to just back up with out giving it too much power. I have not had this issue with this truck till now. What is causing it to go into creep mode and why is it aborting? What exactly is creep mode?

 

Clutch is probably overheating. At least that is what mine says. The D12 transmission is in my opinion a P.O.S. that is why I'm switching to a truck with a stick.

 

Don't touch the brakes if you want to try using creep mode,as it will abort the operation.
Just takes some practice and very light throttle control.

 

The Reverse in the automatic transmission should be in the lowest possible gear, once you start reversing, your clutch is all the way out, you do not ride it while following your trailer around into the dock or wherever. Should you need to stop and pull up, engage the clutch.

Clutch increase in temperature two ways, slipping out of adjustment or you standing halfway on the clutch while the tractor noses down and wants to buck you as you jiggle the fuel...

You may or may not be doing that I don't know.

Disclaimer your specific auto may be different. But my thinking remains the same.

 

Thing is that it won't move back unless it's gases. Now this particular load is very heavy but I still can't stand it. It has to have so much power to move it just lunges back.

 

Creep mode should be enabled by default at very low speeds. It is typically disabled inadvertently by the driver.

Also check that it's not disabled in the user parameters setting. If it seems to otherwise not be working properly, you might try updating the software (take to your shop or a dealer)

What year freightliner are we talking about? The 2018's behave a bit differently than prior years.

 

On a auto DD 12 transmission creep mode is a way for truck to accelerate slowly 2-3 mph when taking foot off of brake without touching accelerator pedal. Supposedly used to "creep" up in bumper to bumper traffic and such. Any use of brake pedal repeatedly or mashing accelerator will cancel creep mode.
