I got busted for pot once....

Hey all,....I've been reading for a few days and wanted to make sure I could still be a trucker? It has now been 5 years that I got busted at the beach with some babe I picked up at the bar, I had a joint on me and was charged for it.

That sucked! I just was screwing off with my life waiting until the kids were grown (single dad) so I could get the job I really wanted. Life gets boring when you have to stay home all the time, you guys may not know that because you don't get home much. But when your the only one your kids have....well, sometimes you get bored ya know? I love my kids and took really crappy jobs mostly factory and did whatever I could to pay the bills

Fell into depression, and just ended up hanging around with the wrong crowd.
Pretty stupid of me, but I pay for that every time I think about it! I was very careful not to ever get a dui though........anyway The companies I talked to said they don't mind because that was years ago, and I guess after 5 years, some guys can have a new start ya know?

To break it down,.......43, 1 pot charge,no dui's, good driving record, no money to start new life, desire to live on the road like you fine folks, kids now grown, no wife, no plans but having the job I always wanted, ....oh, and am clean to! no pot, drinks , blow, or any of that!

I want a REAL new start......that means nothing I used to do.......all bran new! I was talking to pumpkin,swift,jb....these guys are what seem to be really wanting me....they all do that I'm sure........But where to start, I went to the local dvm and picked up a cdl training book.........I have no money and am out of work....need a job like yesterday...............my life is all screwed up because I was never allowed to be a trucker!......I hate my ex!!!!!!!...............sorry, lost my head. and thanks for reading.

 

First - don't feel sorry for yourself. You made mistakes, your ex made mistakes, it's time to pick yourself up and brush yourself off and get with it! Fix your problems, don't keep looking at them. You've come to the right place for information, it sounds like you have no strings attached to keep you at home, so go out there and take the world by storm, just go into it with all the information you can suck up here. I wish you the best of luck in this crusade and hope you find what your looking for.

 

Caught with a joint is far from a serious offense. I don't think you will have any problems.

 

welcome to the greatest forum this side of china. we all make mistakes and as long as we learn from them then things will work out. put your faith in god and he will lead you. second off, was it a felony cahrge or misdeamenor ?

 

hey there and welcome i am jen . there are school out there that place you with a company and the company pays for the school you have to work for that comapny for a yr but it gets paid and u get your dream just keep reading here calling place and do what ya got to do if you wonted that bad , we didnt have money and was not in a good place and hubby fround a school and he got a job you can do it just keep working on it to get it .good luck

 

Not to worry. My boyfriend had way more on his record and had no problems getting a job (just don't try going to Canada). One joint 5 years ago is barely a blip on the radar.

I just know this is gonna be the change that made my life finally happen!!!!! I knew it in my heart all along................No, I should not blame my life on my ex, I did make some mistakes myself. and...............anyway I always will love her LOL! so The guys most interested is swift, I hear good and bad, I'm willing to start at the bottom............actually, I did that 43 years ago, but you live....and you learn. Ive never made more that 16000 a year (with overtime!) so the crappy starter wage will seem good to me I'm sure......and what about being out there on the road? I have to say......you can't put a price on doing what you always wanted to!

Welcome aboard. The only thing I can see one joint may cause trouble on is my daughters PD application. Man is that thing ever long and thorough!
