I’m wondering how can I get my cdl license from Nevada if they are going to mail it to me. This will be my first time getting my CDL. So I lived in Nevada and I picked up and went to trucking school out of state. I’m originally from another state and don’t really know anyone in Nevada who can help me out. The only address I have had a fog lock to the room and a key lock to the box to access mail. I’m closer to the Vegas DMV and my old address is in Reno, and I really don’t want to catch a bus back to Reno and pay for hotels. I’m wondering if I can just take my Nevada information and just go back to my home state of florida and use my old Florida address to transfer my CDL, instead of trying to wait on a license to come in the mail.
Ask the apartment manager if can hold your mail for you. After you do receive your cdl in the mail, then join a mail-forwarding service. Ask the company you're training with what their advice is because they probably see this often. ~ A mail forwarding service can hold your mail for you and also forward it to anywhere you want. There's one in Florida that Merchant Seaman, truckers, Doctors Without Borders, etc. use.
What Chinatown said, but also note that you can forward mail threw the USPS as well. You can also have different Mailing & Home Addresses. Go get yourself a box at the UPS Store Mail Boxes Etc…, or whatever mail forwarding place is near by and us them as your “Mailing” address. Your License will show your physical address, but DMV will send it to you mailing address.
Here's another mail forwarding service: Mail Forwarding Services at St Brendan's Isle - mail forwarding …
Thanks for the information. I really hate that Nevada basically only has two DMV’s in the whole state and they never answer the phone. The customer service that answer the phones don’t work at the dmv, that’s sucks as well. But I will be heading to the DMV in Vegas next week after I pass my test. I will be in a rental car so time is essential. I’ve heard stories that they can’t forward your license and it can only go to your physical address. I’ve called the USPS and they’ve told me I can just give the dmv my new address and they can mail it, but my address now is in Florida. I’m in Arizona right now in training but my old address is in Reno. I can’t get the mail from there because you need a key to go in the box and you need a key to go in the mail room and the staff there doesn’t want to assist. Waiting on the mail man is out the question because I will have a rental car.
There's two DMV offices in Las Vegas/Henderson. I've been to both and they're very efficient. Can wait in line or schedule an appointment. They both have websites.
