Friday I'm getting my truck I'm buying it from Chicago and my company and my address is in Las Vegas, Nevada.
From the dealer they are going to give me drive by plates. How can I get the plates from nevada without having to drive the truck all the way coz from my Company that is from Chicago they told me that just with the drive buy plates I can't take a load, I need the truck to have proper plates on it.

Get the title and register it. You dont need the truck there.

I just spoke with dmv in Vegas, they literally need the truck to be there to do a VIN check. Any other options? Maybe to get some temporary plates that I can haul with them till I get to nevada? Any ideas?

In Pa a certified inspection mechanic does it for us to verify weight & vin. Is that how they do it in NV. If so do you know any mechanics that will help if not it's going to cost you.

Why would they need to do that?

Never heard of anyone checking the vin unless it is a salvage title or a new title application for a vehicle that is never been titled.

All I do is go to the closest DMV (actually it is called secretary of state) and transfer the title then get my plate.

Why are you thinking you can travel back loaded, temp tags are not meant to be used for a loaded truck.

Actually I spoke again with them and ther is another option, get an original vin inspecition form a police officer and then go without the truck and do the plates

Some states do require a physical inspection by someone authorized by the DMV to do so, like Alabama. Nevada might be the same.

Getting an IRP is not the simplest thing to do. Most states require you go to the main DMV, IL, NJ, NY, IA to name a few. You have to pay the hvut, 2290 and sign up for IFTA. When you go, you don't just register, you open an account.

I'd try to register it in IL, if you can. In NV they may give you a nasty tax on that purchase. In Illinois, it is exempt. I know a few folks in NV and they escape with their registration to IL or OK (among others) not to pay a few grand when they purchase a truck. On the other hand, there is no state income tax...So it all depends. Perhaps, you may have a business in NV (not to pay state income tax) and still register the equipment in a different state?

I've try to register it here in Illinois but they are pretty bussy here because everyone is renewing now the plates, I only got an appointment for april 19 and told me that the IRP will take another 1-2 weeks and in nevada they do it in a hour. You got me scared with the nevada tax. I should look into it.
I do have a business in Nevada. If I register it under the business I still net to pay tax on the purchase? Anybody knows how much is the tax?
