I,ve had my CDL for a year now. Im currently looking for a professional driver poistion. But every company I call requests that I go to a trucking school becuase I dont have any tractor-trailer experience or they wont consider me for hiring. Any info about what i can do would be great.
I would search on the net for "Truck driving jobs Your area" and then go through every one of them. You'll find many companies listed and I've seen a few that will retrain you. Don't let some recruiter do the work for you. It seems that every new drivers just settle what a recruiter says and I think they'll all out for themselves. You've got the asset right there with your computer now you'll just have to spend the time going through all of them. Don't stop when you find just one. Make a list of companies that will take you on and then weed them out. I'm sure you'll have to go through their refresher training but that's what you'll have to do if you want to work.
