I understand that for a reefer or dry van these are gross numbers, but with typical deductions, what would this number reduce to, as far as take home pay? I'm trying to see if the owner op path is the way to go!....Merry X-Mas!

Yeah, maybe, too bad expenses for an O/O today are probably $7 grand a week. When it's all said and done, a company driver will make more than you, and leaves the truck in the junkyard until tomorrow. The choice is yours.

There are too many variables to be able to come up with a hard number.
How many miles? Truck payment? Etc.
There are plenty of threads to search for operating costs. Grab a calculator and start playing with numbers.

It a scam. It possible at $2.00 per mile and 3,000 miles a week but you won't do the every week. I used to get get loads out of Los Angeles to Pennsylvania for $2.20 a mile Or $6,000 but getting anything out of PA was cheap freight.
It not easy to make money and lots of truck will move some cheap freight. Look at the rate per mile and see if you and run a truck and still make money. The $6,000 a week is to vague of a number. Look at company like Prime they get lot driver the end up becoming a trainers because the can't make much money running solo. They need the cheap new driver to help them run the miles to make money.

those ads are sales gimmicks. i'll bet dollars to donuts, those are for teams (maybe husband/wife) , and only (say) maybe 5 of thier top earners.

i will NEVER believe any new (solo) o/o, will gross that much

    don't be fooled by ads.

otherwise, Swift is the BEST high paying, great benefits, home weekly new equipment, no touch freight, and the BEST, FRIENDLIEST, COOPERATIVE dispatchers on the face of this earth...!!!!!

you have to know YOUR cost of doing business or (CODB) for each mile you run

    1) fuel
    2) truck payment
    3) insurance
    4) road taxes
    5) plates

    6 -thru 100) everything else.

many o/o's own out right thier equipment, many others still have a nut to crack paying the mortgage on thiers....

where DO YOU fall into this menu..???

To Earn $6k per week... I NEVER even did that For a Gross.

You'd have to play the "Cross country" role every week......California to New York, Then Down to Florida- Then Back to California.......

And It Better be Broker-Less Freight, Or you'll never see those Numbers.......

You wanna make 5-6k per week, go haul asphalt or Stone, Or Cattle.. Home more often, No Freight, And Better over all situation.

Staying in "freight" You have so much competition to race to the Bottom, Brokers have their Noses in there...And You'll be killing yourself, And hitting 5-6k per week will be hard.

Thats just what they are..ads. If all was a get rich quick scheme everyone would be at that company. Like has been said " to many variables ". You will have to live it (your job) to gross almost 300,000 a year. Some do..but either a specialty deal, or running all the time and wearing themselves out, and their equipment out. Yes you can make a living, as company driver or owner op. But remember..this trucking gig is a business loaded with plenty of BS, and broken promises.

Given the right customer and being a dedicated route, it is possible. Gross at least. Funny cause my father and I were just discussing this figure (6000$ gross) and that is basically on 2900 miles. But figure after deductions you’re at the 3500 mark before you set aside for your basics.

Personally I’m more interested in the net figure, as I’m sure most are.

My truck (its a company truck) grossed 5k the week before last...on about 2300mi. I also run flatbed, but had one very good paying multi-stop van load. I averaged about 7mpg and used just over 300gal of fuel for the week with a $2.50ish per gal cost.

Last week it barely grossed 2k. Mainly because of a shipper screw up on Fri and then I went home and stayed home through today.

I wish there were some qualifications people had to meet to be an o/o or l/o. Specifically knowing what fixed costs are and even just a clue how expensive it can be to operate a truck. Thats about 2 things out of a thousand that someone needs to know to be successful.
