I have been reading posts about some companies that i thinking about going to work for. I am not a job hopper, I've only had 3 jobs in 10 years, and with the way companies are looking at work history I going to go somewhere I can stay for at least 3 years so I can be in the running for one of the cushey dedicated routes. And some of the better companies i have spoken with want you to have 2-3 years OTR before they will hire you. So wherever i go for my first job, i plan on being there for awhile. But i have read some horror stories about certain companies wanting you to keep driving legal or not. but these same companies have paperless logs that are checked out by DOT. How can you run illegal if a satellite is tracking you and you HOS? Not calling anyone a liar or judging anyone. but saying "(bleeding with sarcasm) if its on the internet, its gotta be true" comes to mind. anyone have anything on this.

My co. has been caught by us and upper mgmt. adjusting certain segments of logged Qualcom time thereby "making" hours. That's illegal.

Most of the time when you show Mr. LEO your console and the laminated card.... he moves on to something else.

And your company could try to pressure you into using the 16 weather rule.

    These are only some examples......

Most drivers have the intentions of staying with a company when they start. That quickly changes as the hidden stuff arises. The older you get, the more you are adapt and learn to put up with things. Most problems are short lived and go away in a day or two. A good dispatcher demeanor is a must. You take a good company with a bad dispatcher, you won't be there long if you don't get a better one. The same with a bad company. If you have a good dispatcher, you will tend to stick it out longer.

There are benefits to sticking it out like new trucks. A company relationship that both know each other.... I don't know about you, but I absolutely hate them bus rides to orientations.

Not looking forward to the bus ride at all. Last one I had was from Indianapolis to Ft Leonard Wood, MO. And I think you can figure out what that one was for. HAHA. Im on with TMC and with BTC. Im pretty sure Im going with TMC, but Im still up in the air. They do have a terminal less than an hour from my house. And I have spoken with some others that have driven for them and had no complaints. I was just curious about the qualcomm and i heard that you can "fix" any issues on there to keep legal. But if they change anything on there who would be at fault if caught? Is the driver still fully responsible? Even if DM or dispatch changed it?

Just realize this......alot of folks come here and elsewhere and rant to let off steam. Also that because one person had a bad experience at that company doesn't mean you will. There are so many variables...Condo had very valid points in his comment.

As far as the quallcomm fix...forget about that...they time stamp back at the company when you set the brakes.....there is no way to "fudge" with a quallcomm that I know about.

I understand that about the leting off steam and having bad experiences with companies. Just trying to figure some stuff out. Everyone has their own opinions about everything. Guess I didnt understand alot about the paperless systems and was trying to get a heads up before i showed up for orientation.

Any electronic log monitoring cannot be defeated. Plan on running legal if the company uses it.

Even if you don't have paperless logs, if you have a Qualcom, make sure your logs and Qualcom match. The DOT can match the two up, along with PrePass.

    rocknroll nik Thanks this.
