Ok so here is my problem.

I'm looking for a OTR company that will hire me, I have total of 5 years exp, but here is the problem. My last OTR exp was from 2003 to 2006 and from 2006 to 2008 I was driving local. I called two companies already and they said they can't hire me because I don't have any recent experience.

I have CDL class A license, clean record, from 2003 to 2006 I was solo driver, then trainer then I did teams. I have hazmat, doubles/triples endorsement. I do have a little bit of experience pulling doubles, when I lived in Phoenix AZ I worked for a tanker company pulling doubles.

I am not freaking out ( yet ) because I know there are companies who will hire me even though I've been out of a truck since 2008, but can someone help me out and tell me some companies that will hire me? I am doing my own research and calling them but I could use your help.

Also when an owner operator is looking for drivers for example Fedex or Forward Air, where do they usually advertise? I checked craigslist but had no luck.

That tittle is correct I will buy you lunch if you can help me out but first I need to get hired and do my first run :)

    Thanks in advance.
    John

Ohh one more thing, I'm looking for Van and refer companies, I'm looking for over the road position, I want to stay out 4-6 weeks I did this from 03-06 and it wasn't a problem.

You may have to do a 10 day refresher with a mega-carrier (hurts to even say it)... do 6 months, then branch out with a smaller company with a better working scenario for an experienced guy. Compnaies are stuck on the "recent verifiable experience" due to restrictions by insurance companies.

If he finds something local might as well stay local, and make more money then working OTR from a bottom feeder.

My goal this week was to go back OTR because to be honest with you... I miss it lol. But I agree I might have to find a local job, the jobs I've seen already they don't pay all that well but it's better then nothing i guess.

Heartland started doing refreshers again. I think you have to have 6 months in the past 3 years to qualify, and at least 1 year OTR.
It is with a trainer for a few weeks, I don't think it costs anything. Even if just for 6 months for recent exp it could help.
Do not do carlisle regional. If you decide to try go for system.
