If you were just starting out and needed a CDL

Which company would you contact and why?

I have been unemployed now for over two years?

I will tell you CR England and Werner are not high on my list. CRST is but I have to wait a month or more before I can go with them.. Nothing really bad, just something personal.

So who would you go with?

 

I wouldn´t get my CDL through a company. I´d go through a school or have someone train me with a truck.

CRST might have you team drive after they train you. I have heard things about Swift being ok. I know they get a ton of crap in the trucking world, but if you really want to be a truck driver I guess that wouldnt defer you away from them.

Heck, I bet almost 75% of truckers have been with Swift and that the 25% who didn't 10% percent are liars. *Its a joke*

 

Why not look into any local beer, soda, booze, food, etc,...Distributors??

Many will hire a new guy and train him for a cdl,....Sure you might have to start out as a yard jockey or work in the warehouse or as a drivers helper for awhile,..But when all is said and done you got payed for your on the job training,...And landed a coveted local job,...

 

That is on my list too walleye. I am applying with all of them too, but I actually want OTR.

 

I ended up at a Roadmaster driving school. they do financing, and help you get placed in a job. but you do have to have down payment, and a bit extra for licensing fees. I wanted to be able to apply with several, keep my options open, instead of just the one company who helped me get the CDL. (I origionally looked into Roehl and Prime, they both have their own schools)
I've heard Swift and Millis also do CDL training.

I just went to My local DMV and got the booklet and took the written tests and passed them. I then rented a truck and took My driven test, Passed that too. Next Month I head to Phoenix to drive for Swift... No School.. No BS... I have a Class A CDL

 

Now that is an option too.. How much did it cost you to rent that truck..

I have some brothers in faith that could help there too.

 

The place is called cdlexpress. They are in Houston Texas and it cost Me $335.00 the truck is auto, w/air brakes and flatbed. They teach You air brake test and how to drive the truck. I hopped in and did a test drive then took test... Just needed more practice at parallel parking. Well that is what the Person from DMV said..

If you don't pass that money You paid for is good till You do pass.
