Hi everyone. I’ve posted this in the garage section, not that I haven’t gotten good advise, but I really need some more detailed help. I lost my speedometer, odometer, tripometer, and cruise control in motion. My cruise works when I’m parked but not when I’m moving. I changed the sensor and checked the hub for movement, tight. I tried another speedometer which only worked sporadically for about 10 miles out of a 100 mile trip, but since has stopped working. Everything else works as it should. I tried to reset the sensor by shutting down for five minutes then turning the key on, waiting for my warning lights to go out, three times, but that didn’t help either. My speedo has 900k+ and the borrowed one had 700k+. Wondering if there is a fuse, bad harness, bad something. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all who have previously responded elsewhere in the truckers report. A bunch of great people here.

What year and last six. Sounds like open wire from VSS to engine ECM.

Hi spsauerland. It’s a 2003 379 598961. Thanks for the comeback. I’m willing to swap out the harnesses as long as I don’t mess anything else up. I do a lot of my own repairs so the fear factor is almost nonexistent. Anything else you need as far as info, let me know

Hi Sp. I think I found the problem. I checked the harness from the VSS to the bundle by the engine and found a worn wire along the way. Bare to the point that it had turned green. I just need to road test, but I believe that was the problem. I’ll let you know as soon as I check it out. Thanks again

Good deal. Wire from VSS should of been a twisted pair. Haven't had a moment to bring up diagrams. Let us know the outcome.

Ahhh! Success. Everything is working just as it should. And yes Sp, it was the twisted wire. That wire just dangles like that? I zip tied it to a few locations and double insulated it from further damage. Thanks again for all the help along the way. And all my best for a New Year and keep the shiny side up.
