This time its mm 44 in a construction zone. According to news reports a semi hit a construction truck. The trailer separated from the semi and caught fire. Been all at the rest area north of Bristol all afternoon. I hate driving on this highway but have no choice. Stay safe out there and please pay attention especially when going thru construction zones. These guys and girls are just doing their jobs which will eventually make our jobs a little easier and safer.

Is it still possible to run east on 40 until you intersect either US 15 or I-85 north into St Petersburg and so on?

It is possible but 40 thru NC is more mountainous. Also it adds unnecessary miles to my trip. Alot of my deliveries are concentrated around the 495 beltway outside DC and route 66 in VA.

Thank you for that information. I was toying with the idea of bypassing 81 anyway, and US 15 puts you close to 66 anyway. And 64 etc. I have not ever had any more deliveries into the DC Area itself since about 1990. Ive always bypassed the city on US301 or 15 or 340 at harper ferry.
