    Not in my opinion!

When you pick up a trailer on a yard somewhere...You inherit all the problems that the previous drivers left it with.

    Exactly.....

And when you stay hooked to the same trailer.... You know exactly what you've got. What has been fixed, & when. what needs to be fixed, & now!

That is a question with lots of answers. If you are able to drop the trailer at the receiver instead of live unloading, it would seem to be. A lot depends on the trailer you are picking up. If it has a flat tire, you just lost anything you should have gained.

But if you happen to hold on to the same trailer for a long time, don't forget to drop it once in awhile and grease your 5th wheel. While you have it disconnected, make sure you take a good look at the 5th wheel and the mounting bolts, basically all the stuff that you can only see when you drop the trailer. You don't want to find out the hard way that something is broken or malfunctioning!

Depends..... drop and hook means you never touch the freight; a quicker turnaround without the delays of loading/unloading. However, the drawback is the trailer you pick up may have issues with lights, brakes, body damage, etc that whoever dropped it didn't take care of. Plus you don't really know anything about whatever's on it (how it's loaded, weight, etc, etc) other than what the BOL says.

You pays your money and you takes your chances.
