I have a bad driving record, couple speeding tickets, couple careless and reckless, 2 wrecks from when i was 16 and 17, and my license has been suspended twice for failure to appear ( i forgot about court and went to work like any other day, wasn’t purposely avoiding it). My last careless and reckless was 2-3 years ago, and i have only gotten one ticket since that was dropped for expired registration. My question is, is there any avenue that i could pursue to get a job truck driving? I’m willing to buy my own truck, I’m just wondering what obstacles i will meet, can i even get my cdl, if i do and i buy a truck will i be able to get jobs? I’ve always wanted to drive, but always figured my record would hold me back, but if i own my own truck could that work out?
Call Progressive and ask them for an insurance quote. It's going to be over $20,000 per year for first year drivers with a clean record.
Where is your location. How old are you? Yes, there's hope for you to get a CDL and become a driver. Don't buy a truck; you'll need over $200G to get started and that's a conservative guesstimate.
You will be required to graduate from a cdl school from this website: Training Provider Registry - Transportation
No offense, but if you aren't responsible to go to a court date, why do you think you are responsible enough to start a new business? That said, worst case is wait a year or two and most places will hire you once those citations are older then 36 months.
