Is it too late to buy an AOBRD device? I emailed Gorilla, BigRoad and Keeptrucking but have not received a response. Are there any alternative abord devices that do the same things as the devices from Gorilla, BigRoad and Keeptrucking?

Also, do all aobrd devices have the same functionality or do some differ?

It's probably to late unless you can get it sent overnight and get it Monday or Tuesday. Not sure how it would work putting one on on the 19. Maybe you sneak in and hopefully don't get stopped for the next 8 days.

Does the device actually have to be installed on the vehicle before the 18th or do you just need to purchase an AOBRD device before the 18th?

It supposed to be installed by the 18 and after that only ELDs or supposed to be hooked up. They might not even sell you AOBRD on or after 18

They won't put driver out of service for not having ELD till April 1 but they can still write a ticket for not having one. So you might be able to get away installing AOBRD but I don't know.

Yeah maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I think that these companies are allowed to sell these AOBRD devices until the 18th and then after that they are not allowed to? I'm emailing some companies now to ask them about this. I just want to make sure I'm locked in with the AOBRD mode and not a regular ELD

If you can get one ordered then have it shipped overnight or take chances and run till you get it. Your in the grey area of the law. I read driver saying Keep truckin is back order on ELDs. I would think places would be open Saturday selling anything they have in stock like Gorilla or Big Road.

Yeah I'm just going to use this an excuse to not run until after the new year. I just went ahead and ordered one from Big Road and one from Keep Trucking... either I'll return one or give one to a friend or something. Hopefully everything turns out ok

Rand Mcnally ELD allows you to stay in AOBRD mode without certifying it ELD compliant. Just FYI
