Contacted Swift but I get mixed reviews on here. Just looking to make money the first year OTR and get experience. I hope they can get me 2500 + miles OTR

I'm not in the industry but I'm researching the pros and cons. I see most people say after a year you can move, but looking at a lot of sites for trucking companies most say they want 6 months of OTR experience some even say 3 months so depending on the training time you could be out of the door in 9 months or so if you don't go through co. sponsored training.

Sharp Dressed, the Swift terminal manager here, Albuquerque, came in to school and spoke with us for a couple of hours...no recruiting, just truck world reality. Safety and responsibility. He told us that companies don't want tumbling tumbleweeds, they're looking for professionals. So yeah, lots of ads for 6 months, but page 2, the rest of the story is, a year is a good minimum for the first job. I believed him, he's a strong guy, straight talker, 13 years OTR.

Interesting. Yeah I would definitely take the experience of a vet over someone like me. Good info.

The only thing that concerned me about Watkins was people saying they don't have much of a training program.
