i got caught off gaurd last week with a heavy load. gauges looked good. so i'd like to see aobut a digital read out that i can maybe add the weight so i know what i have exactly instead of having to drive 200 miles to the closest truckstop with a scale to find out i'm heavy.

A portable scale is a cumbersome device but heck,... if that's what you want to do rather than have a tally of the information (per skid) from the shipper and properly space the loading (stagger) of the box then far be it for me to rock the boat.

I'm doing the research and here's a couple of links to help you with your scale problem (man, am I happy to be in a tanker... don't miss THAT at all).

Just google "Portable Truck Scale"... these things aren't cheap !!!

We use Air-Weigh digital scales. They work great to convert air pressure to on the ground weight.
Accurate to 300lbs. Been using them for the last 5 years. We were having the same problem on our dumps loading heavy. The air guages are too much guess work. A couple psi high and you could be 1000lbs over.
    Check out their website. Air-weigh.com

RightWeigh is what you want. They have a digital set-up that will give you the tractor and trailer weight in pounds and not PSI
