Jw in another thread you told a driver you grossed 8200 and normally grossed 7500 but your take home was 3-4k a week. So how do you have no money saved? Thats 12k a month. And you also told that other driver thats kind of in the same situation to go otr even though hes broke also. So why dont you just take your own advice and fix the truck and hope nothing breaks for a cpl months
Also cat is junk anyways. They were good years ago but nowadays they are junk and very expensive to fix. I wouldve got a cummins or detroit pre egr. The n14 isthe best motor imho. Cats are overated
Pre EGR/ACCERT is the way to go for any motor IMO. All of them are great but I personally am not a fan of even the pre EGR ISX. The problem is if you go and get a pre emissions motor that has a million miles on it, your not going to have much of anything set aside for repairs correct?
thank you I was just going to say the same thing......driver you need to get away from hotshotting getting paid one way sucks just because your getting $3/mi loaded your really only running for $1.50/mi
I know a guy who gets his truck worked on in the same shop as me. He purchased an '09 T660 with the twin turbo CAT, it also has drained his savings account. New DPF, check engine light always coming on, sensors going out and constant wiring problems. Between the shop bills and the hotel bills, not much left. Seems to be luck of the draw whether you get a good truck or a lemon, but there seems to be an awful lot of lemons out there.
OMG I thought I was reading an episode of "This Is Your Life". Same story is you except I wasn't quite so silly to buy an automatic. 2005 C15 (first year) ACERT Approx 4 years ago it broke a VVA housing and took the camshaft and head with it. $13,000. Worked good for a while but I bet I've put in 10 to 15 VVA's or VVA low oil pressure sensors in the lat 18 months. 2 miles after leaving the dealer the engine light comes back on and the KW dealer says "OH it must be one we didn't change".......so we changed them all. $3,000. Guess what? Engine light flashed same code before I got back on the freeway. So now they replace the harness. Same code after 1 day. Take it to a 2nd shop (two guys that used to work for the KW dealer). They replace two injectors and the harness up in the head. That was another $3,000 or so but I can't say for sure because by now I am like Al Bundy sitting on the couch in a daze handing out money. Worked good for a week then same code. Took it to a 3rd shop (another KW dealer). They read codes and say you need a VVA, I say no way Jose and tell them they are all new. They say OK must be harness. Strike two says I. OK must be the CAT wiring harness going to ECM. They spend a week repairing the harness and tell me I think we have it but the harness is worn out. Truck works good for a week then same code. So we installed a new CAT harness last week and just got the truck back today. $3200. Just hoping we get it fixed so I can trade it in because I don;t want to sell it until we get it fixed properly. I swear we have spent over $20,000 on this POS in the last 4 years chasing this VVA problem, in addition to all the regular maintenance expenses involved with running a truck. And people tell me I am lying when I say it costs over $1.35/mile + driver to run a truck and trailer.
Yeah...I remember that too.......If your grossing 8k a WEEK, You shouldnt be broke.....Heck,You should be driving a brand new truck Sport! your making over $400,000 per year Maybe you should be honest and tell the truth.......
sorry for your situation, thanks for sharing though, it might help someone else make better decisions. I have a friend with a 2011 Volvo who has had similar headache after headache.
