Lets hear which one has better jakes, hows the jakes on a acert anyway? Im looking at a new truck and looking at either the isx or acert, both 07 pre dpf.

Id go CAT hands down but dont want to deal with the IVA's and oil line issues, but then again who wants to mess with egr valves?

I own one of each the ISX has a better jake and gets better mpgs but I like the cat better. I have not had any problems with IVA's or oil lines (yet) only have 250k on it

Shoot take the EGR off and weld up that valve in there. That will keep it nice and cloesed. To bad they dont make a delete kit for them like they do on the 6.0 powerstroke engines.

The fuel millage is what has me leaning towards the cummins, welding the egr shut is not an option yet due to warranty. If this was 03 and older CAT hands down but i think that between the acert or isx there really aint no difference in reliability, i hear that the jake on them is pretty good and will hold a loaded truck down a 6% in high gear without touching the brakes.... This is what i need now running some steep passes with big weight, fuel millage would be a added bonus as well.... Both trucks are T600s.

Martin....I thought you'd never go red let alone get rid of that Mega-Kitty...

My ISX has no issues on the engine brakes....I go down Vail quite a bit....no problem even at 80K.....

If you dont mind me asking what is Mega about that Kitty Cat you run? Just curious because I saw that boost gauge pic you use to have up flickering over on the maxed out side!!!

980hp to the tires, with liners 1-6 sunk, a blown headgasket, and a cracked head. But hey it has a million miles.

Anyone needing some go fast goodies? :D

I bet that thing would pull up a lot of grades and never even flinch at it! Dang that is awesome! I hope I can afford to make a truck like that one day since I am into the whole diesel performance thing. What kinda mileage you see out of it?

If it's anything like the '06 I have I wouldn't think twice about buying another Acert. Over 300k miles and the biggest engine related repair was a water pump. They've replaced a pressure sensor a few times and it had a VVA fault because of a loose wire, all fixed under warranty. Other than that it's been problem free.

At sea level it would stay under 1100*F at full power so i could run it flat out and not even worry about hills but any elevation and you had to be careful. Millage varried running cross country 5mpg, up and down the west coast 6-6.6mpg. It did better than stock though. But witht he manifold and turbo i had i pretty much lost 90% of my jakes, so what i could pull ashland at 60mph at 80k lbs when i had to go down at 20mph to prevent killing myself.
