Finding this whole truck registration process to be too confusing. I currently have temp plate so I need a regular plate. I am going to be leased on to a company. Do I need to get apportioned plate or does the company I get leased on to process that?

Ask the company you leasing too.

I see, that will be best option for me right now. So do I need to register my truck with Texas at all? Is there another form of registration I need to do? Thanks

All you have to do is title your truck if you're leasing onto the company they will take care of the registration.

    Get your own plate.

When you lease to the company, you will have paper work for a plate, get it from your state.

    why?

because if your arrangement with that company doesn’t work out, you can easily move to another.

I get what you are saying but really don't think I will be jumping ship anytime soon. Plus the plate cost is not something I want to pay upfront now. Also am not leased on yet and the apportioned filing document asks for insurance and leasing agreement which I don't have currently

    ibcalm19 Thanks this.
