I just spoke with our "Placement Head" at our school. She reviewed my records, DAC, Driving, Criminal etc and gave me a huge stack of applications that she said I was good for and that our school works with.

Trouble is I'm not familiar with some of these companies.

    Any info on:

    YRC Glen Moore

    FFE

    WilTrans

I can figure out the rest, but these three I'm drawing a blank.

I've found nothing on FFE...and information found on the others is old.

Ask forum member Lonewolf (can't remember the rest of his name) about FFE. He's just about to finish up his first year with them.

Just because the info on the others is old, doesn't mean it's not worthwhile. Somethings never change at some companies.

    Baack Thanks this.

Looking at SafeStat it seems the problem with that company is the drivers. They have a fairly decent score for equipment but not so good for the drivers. So you can assume there's many problems there. They might have very low pay, or there's hardly any safety division. Management might not care about it's drivers and on and on. The accident rate is high for just 1306 drivers at 582 for 30 months. It's just something to compare when looking at companies.

I couldn't find any Safestat info on them...nor is their website revealing. I have about 15 apps to fill out and trying to prioritize them.

Jmurman, you got any idea what you want to haul? Van, reefer, flatbed, tanker...? I would give that some thought, then sort the companies by that, then prioritize the companies.

Also, you may want to call each company, and just ask if they hire in your area. Just because the school gave you brochures doesn't mean the company hires around there. That may save you a bit of writing.

    Good luck
